Just like in human medicine prevention is the key for good health in veterinary medicine. It is prudent to bring your pet to a veterinarian before it gets ill. Many problems can be detected in pets during a thorough wellness examination before they cause general symptoms. A pet should be examined every 3 - 7 pet years which is every 6 - 12 calendar months. We will examine your pet using our senses of hearing, feeling, smelling and seeing. The examination, the “12 Systems” comprehensive examination, is usually done in a systematic manner and includes the following: Nose, facial expression, skin, eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, gums, tonsils, lymph nodes, salivary glands, windpipe, skeletal muscles, accessible bones, paws, nails, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, feeling of abdominal organs, listening to heart and lungs, inspection of anus and genitals, check for fleas, behavior and hydration status. We will check your pet’s weight and ask questions about your pet’s environment and behavior. We will review the medical records and discuss the right diet. We will discuss with you our clinical findings; we will suggest preventive measures, further diagnostic tests and give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Future visits are also discussed during this visit. We have developed wellness packages that make it easier for you to give your pet excellent care. |
